Focus Group:
Pale Blue Dot activity

October through November 2026

Focus Group Details

Help us bring a cosmic perspective to the classroom!

We’re looking for a small group of teachers across Canada to help us pilot a new classroom activity inspired by Carl Sagan’s iconic Pale Blue Dot.

This activity invites students to reflect on Earth’s place in the Universe and explore themes of wonder, perspective, connection, and our shared home planet. We’re developing different approaches for bringing this powerful message into classrooms, and we’d love your help in discovering what resonates most with students aged 10–17.

Participating teachers will try the activity in their classroom and share their feedback with us. Your insights will help us refine the activity and ensure it is meaningful, engaging, and practical for educators.

By applying below, you're committing to attending an orientation session and a follow-up discussion (proposed dates below). Teachers who are selected and complete the entire process will receive an honorarium for their time.

We look forward to reviewing your application! Deadline to apply is September 18.

Can you commit to trying the 30-minute activity in your classroom between October and November?
Can you attend the online orientation session on October 8 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern?

We encourage live participation, but a recording will be available if you can't attend.
