About the Workshop

Webinar presented on September 11, 2024 at 7pm Eastern Daylight Time (Toronto time)

Duration: 1 hour

Over 2000 years ago, Eratosthenes found an ingenious way to measure the circumference of the Earth with amazing accuracy. This experiment, which can be adapted to elementary or secondary levels, is a multidisciplinary project which shows the power of creativity to solve problems. It combines concepts in math, geography and astronomy and allows students to make an amazingly accurate measurement of the Earth - something they probably never thought they could do! We’ll show you how to do this project with your students and maybe even collaborate with schools around the world.

Join us to learn how to do this measurement on September 23, during the fall equinox!

Registered participants will be able to join the live webinar and will have access to the resources and recording of the webinar.
