About the Workshop
The April 2024 Total Solar Eclipse will be a once-in-a-lifetime event for Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic provinces!
For the first time in decades, Eastern and Atlantic Canada will find themselves cast beneath the shadow of the Moon on April 8, 2024. As the Moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun, it will create a total solar eclipse, completely obscuring the Sun from view for a few spectacular minutes. This is a truly unique phenomenon and will be a well-publicized event.
We're inviting teachers, science leaders, and any other education professional to join us for a Community of Practice (CoP). We will share information with you about how to get ready for this event, especially to ensure your students can observe it safely. We welcome discussion among participants.
The meetings in 2024 will be on:
- Thursday, January 25 at 4:15pm eastern
- Tuesday, February 20 at 4:15pm eastern
- Tuesday, March 19 at 4:15pm eastern
There is one last meeting of the CoP to have a debrief and sharing of experiences on May 6th at 4:15pm eastern.
We will send you reminders a few days before each meeting. All sessions will be recorded and available to all participants, so you can still join our CoP even if a meeting has passed.
This activity is presented in collaboration with École en réseau. We are running a similar CoP in French through their website.
