Contest: In an Astronomer's Shoes

Join in on our spring contest In an Astronomer’s Shoes! Your class will step into the role of a true astronomer: writing a request for time on a telescope to observe an astronomical target of your choice!

From March 17 through June 9, 2025, we invite grade 4-12 students to simulate an astronomer’s work. Your students will learn all about exoplanets (worlds outside our solar system) by sorting through a list of real exoplanets to choose one they would like to learn more about using one of astronomy’s most powerful telescopes –the James Webb Space Telescope! Students will get to show off their creativity and scientific thinking as they fill out a mock observing time request form.
