Webinar: Women in Astronomy
past, present and future
Webinar presented on December 10, 2018
Very few women are mentioned when we learn about the history of astronomy. Yet some of them had major contributions, which unfortunately remained unrecognized for too long. In this webinar, we will explore the role that some women have had in the development of astronomy as well as the challenges they faced. We will also explore the current reality, now that more and more women astrophysicists are present in universities and research centres.
Our guest speaker for this webinar is Dr. Kristine Spekkens, researcher and professor of astrophysics at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, ON. She’s interested in galaxy formation and issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion in astronomy, particularly for the Canadian Astronomical Society.
The webinar is now archived which means the documents and recording are accessible to everyone once logged in.
