Workshop for informal educators 2015

June 8th to 26th 2015

Description

Do you work in a park, summer camp or a nature interpretation centre? Would you like to become more familiar with the sky in order to organise more astronomy activities with your group?

Then this workshop is for you!

We are pleased to offer our free three-week workshop for informal educators again this year. In the last four years, over 1000 educators and teachers across the country have taken our workshops and can now share their interest for the night sky with confidence and enthusiasm.

Our workshop for informal educator will be offered from June 8th to 26th is entirely online. You do not need any special equipment other than a computer with high-speed internet. There will be a 1-hr weekly webinar (online presentation) and we will suggest activities for you to do on your own time. The webinars will be on Fridays at 2pm (eastern) - 11am (pacific) but they are always recorded for those you cannot join us live. You can therefore easily fit this workshop in your busy schedule!

At the end of this workshop, you will:

  • be able to recognize the summer constellations in the sky.
  • know how to use a starfinder and planetarium software like Stellarium.
  • be more familiar with many astronomy concepts.
  • have discovered many activities to easily include astronomy in your programming.
  • and feel more confident sharing the wonders of the sky with your audience.
  • and more!
